CSHOA Octoberfest Reminder

Print

Plan now to come to the double driveways on Denzel Ct. for Chesapeake Station’s annual October Fest on October 15th beginning at 2PM. We will have bratwurst, sausages, hot dogs, soda, apple cider and of course, beer! You need to bring a side dish and your own chair, but not your pets, please.

We are also in need of another grill and some grill masters!  If you’d like to volunteer, contact Cathy Diggle at [email protected].

Join your neighbors for fun, food and music.

Annual Meeting Clarification

It is never too late for you to toss your name into the CSHOA ring for 2016-17 officers!

Print

Ballot Clarification

in the past few days, you received a packet of information from Summit Management Company, the firm that CSHOA uses for billing, mass mailings, etc.  In the packet you received a ballot with the six names of people who have agreed to run for the 2016-17 Board of Directors.
The names on the ballot are correct but the sheet should include the following sentence : “Vote for no more than five people.”  If you include a “write-in name” it will count as one of the five.

Also, remember If you would like to run for office or if you would like to nominate someone at the Annual meeting there will be a time to do so before votes are tallied.

Please spread the word to those who may not access emails.

Make sure to attend the Annual CSHOA Meeting on September 10 at 10:00.

The engineer overseeing the Rod-n-Reel Resort expansion project recently contacted us to advise our community that they will be placing numerous test piles (less than a dozen) in Rod-n-Reel parking lot in the next week or two in preparation for renovations.  During this process expect noise typically associated with construction projects.

TOWN NEWS:
PLEASE DO NO DISPOSE OF FULL PAINT CANS WITH REGULAR GARBAGE
These cans might become crushed and paint will then run all over the streets.  Empty paint cans are acceptable for our trash pick-up as are cans where the paint has been allowed to dry up.  Hint:  Place inexpensive kitty litter into the cans with the liquid paint.  Leave the lid off and keep adding kitty litter until all the liquid paint is absorbed and dry.  Only then is it acceptable to throw into your household garbage.

Mayor’s Night Out

Below you will find a letter from Connie O’Dell describing the agenda for the next Mayor’s Night Out:

Monday, August 1, 2016 at Mayor’s Night Out, our guest speaker will be Kathy Clune. Kathy has stepped up and volunteered to spearhead efforts to organize a Chesapeake Beach Neighborhood Watch Program. Kathy is working diligently to recruit Chesapeake Beach residents to become involved in this worthy organization. She will present her ideas to the community at Mayor’s Night Out and has already been actively recruiting interested residents who attend the North Beach Farmer’s Market on Friday evenings. Kathy was invited to join in at the North Beach Neighborhood Watch Booth.

Mayor’s Night Out is held the first Monday of each month at 7 PM at Chesapeake Beach Town Hall. Mayor’s Night Out is informal with an open forum; there is no agenda and light refreshments are served. Please pass this information along to each of your residents and remember to join us on August 1, 2016.

Bay Water Quality

The Calvert County Health Department has asked that beach visitors take precautions when entering the Chesapeake Bay. Vibrio and Shewanella Algae infections can occur in the waters of the bay and its tributaries. For more information, see this PDF file – vibrio and shewanella 2016.  You can also click here to be redirected to the Calvert County Health Department’s website.

An interactive map of current water quality status is also available here.
